The family members want CBI to take over the case at the earliest Mani's family and relative allege involvement of some of the friends of the actor in the mysterious death Various lab reports have time and again proved that he was poisoned: Ramakrishnan
A year after the death of Malayalam actor Kalabhavan Mani, his brother RLV Ramakrishnan has launched a three-day hunger strike marking his protest against the decision of the police to wind up the probe into the untimely death of the actor. The 45-year-old actor breathed his last on March 6, 2016, in a suspected case of poisoning.

Ramakrishnan is likely to continue fast indefinitely in protest against the lackadaisical attitude of Kerala police and state government in effectively conducting the probe.
The family members want CBI to take over the case at the earliest. "There were several lapses from the part of investigating team. They were so careless and did not give due care while taking the viscera to the national forensic laboratory. Various lab reports have time and again proved that he was poisoned. Police must find out who poisoned my brother," Ramakrishnan said.
There were reports that the investigation team is planning to close the case citing lack of evidence. Mani's family and relative allege involvement of some of the friends of the actor in the mysterious death. Though the LDF government ordered CBI inquiry, the investigating agency is yet to take over the case.
The family unveiled a statue of the actor at Kalagriham, the art and cultural institution set up by Mani in his hometown Chalakkudy.
