
Chennai’s Ragas Dental College research students have come up with an idea to use selfies to check the spread of ailments and also to educate patients about proper dental hygiene.
According to a report in the Times of India, a trial has been made by the Chennai doctors to keep a tab on dental health and to check for cancer.
How we brush is vital to determining our good health, team members say. They suggest - "Just take a video of you brushing and a selfie of your teeth and send it to your doctor. So, you can get advice on-line and need not stand in queue for a routine appointment."
Many people do not know the proper way to brush their teeth. Also, an individual's style of brushing changes depending on their teeth and their formation.
Research doctor Rooban Thavaraja gives training to volunteers on the right way to brush. He also asks them to take a video while brushing for 14 days.
After the training, he found that brushing habits improved in most of the volunteers.
The plan seems to be to spread this awareness by getting people to click themselves, something most phone owners seem more than happy to do anyway.
