Amit Shah said: "They (Congress) distributed guarantee cards in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Assam, Manipur and Tripura. Those were much better than the guarantees that what they are offering here. The party that has no image, who will believe their guarantees?"

Speaking exclusively to Asianet Suvarna News Editor Ajit Hanamakkanavar, Union Home Minister Amit Shah denied that the decision to do away with the four per cent reservation was politically motivated keeping the elections in mind.

Surjewala sought Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai's resignation after the Supreme Court put on hold the scrapping of the four per cent Muslim reservation in the state till May 9. 

Calling such statements "strange" and questioning as to whether it is an election issue as it is being used during the campaigning, she called on the people of the state to ensure this election is not about Modi or any other leader, irrespective of their party.

Reacting to Congress president DK Shivakumar who has promised to restore the Muslim reservation if his party comes to power, Shah sought to know whose quota the party will scrap if it manages to form the government in Karnataka.
