The bomb squad has conducted checks along the border areas and heightened security measures across the state following Panoor bomb blast. A Special Investigation Team has taken four people into custody over the bomb blast that claimed one life at Panoor on Friday (April 5).

A man begging on a Jan Shatabdi Express from Thiruvananthapuram to Kannur, attacked the Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) when asked to show a ticket. The incident occurred as the train departed from Thiruvananthapuram Central Station on Thursday (April 04). The Railway police have registered a case against the accused for attacking TTE in the train following the incident.

Two men identified as Vineesh and Sherin suffered severe injuries after an explosion when they were making bombs on the terrace of a house in Panoor in the Kannur district on Friday (April 05).

In the upcoming 2024 elections, K Sudhakaran is contesting for the Congress and UDF, while CPM's Jayarajan is the LDF candidate. The BJP has nominated C Raghunathan as its candidate for the Kannur Lok Sabha constituency. 

In Kozhikode district, temperatures may soar up to 38 degrees Celsius, while in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kannur, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, and Kasaragod districts, the maximum temperature may reach up to 36 degrees Celsius.

The temperature may rise to 39 degrees Celsius in the Kollam and Palakkad districts, and 37 degrees Celsius in the Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Thrissur, Kozhikode, and Kannur districts.

The flight will operate non-stop on the Abu Dhabi-Kannur sector daily. The flight will depart from Kannur at 12:40 am and will reach Abu Dhabi at 2:35 am.

Similar incidents occurred previously at Varkala Beach and Thrissur Chavakkad Beach where floating bridges collapsed causing injuries to several people.  However, due to the sea attack warning, people were not allowed onto the bridge, preventing any serious accidents in Kannur.

Till April 1, Kollam, Thrissur and Palakkad districts have been warned that the temperature will rise to 39°C, Pathanamthitta and Kottayam districts up to 38°C, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, and Kannur districts up to 37°C and Thiruvananthapuram district up to 36°C.

After the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the UDF and CPI(M) in Kerala staged a massive protest on Friday. The CPI(M) burned an effigy of PM Modi in Kannur.

The IMD stated that rainfall will occur in  Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts.

The Kannur district collector and district election officer announced Section 144 in the Kannur collectorate on April 30. The collector also stated that strict action would be taken against the persons found guilty of violating the order under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.

Lok Sabha election 2024 Kannur constituency: The upcoming Lok Sabha election in Kannur, Kerala, is set to witness a fierce battle between the UDF and LDF. K Sudhakaran is again contesting in Kannur for the UDF-led Congress.
