Karnataka Election 2023: P Chidambaram slammed the BJP for its criticism and questioned the linking of Bajrang Dal with 'Bajrangbali,' asking how this "magical transformation" could be justified.

Karnataka Election 2023: Senior Congress leader and former Karnataka chief minister Veerappa Moily said there was no suggestion before the party to ban the Bajrang Dal. Addressing reporters in Udupi, Moily also said that state governments did not have the right to ban such organisations. 

Karnataka Election 2023: The Congress sources mentioned the survey said in only four seats in coastal areas, there may be 1000-1500 votes loss because of the issue and the candidates there "have been informed to work harder to gain that back".

While Prime Minister Narendra Modi likened the promised ban on Bajrang Dal to locking up Hanuman and his devotees, former deputy chief minister KS Eshwarappa burnt the Congress manifesto, and Bajrang Dal activists tore the Congress document, hit it with slippers and held rallies in several parts of the state demonstrating their protest.

At some places, "Hanuman Chalisa" were also chanted. The protestors are slated to chant Hanuman Chalisa' on Thursday evening at  Hanuman temples or any other temple to protest against the Congress promise.

Hitting out at the Congress, BJP leader Eshwarappa dubbed the Grand Old Party's manifesto a "manifesto of Muslim League (of Pakistan founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah)".

Along with 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' in praise of 'Mother India', PM Modi also made a point at the beginning as well as at the end of his speech to raise 'Jai Bajrang Bali' in Mulki in Dakshina Kannada district, Ankola in Uttara Kannada distinct and Bailhongal in Belagavi district.

The Karnataka Congress, in its manifesto, stated that it will take decisive action in accordance with the law, including imposing a ban on organisations such as the Bajrang Dal and the PFI, alleging that they were promoting enmity among communities.

Karnataka Election 2023: In a series of tweets, the minister said Bajrang Dal is not an anti-social organisation and it strives for protection of the Hindu community and gomata (mother cow). He wondered whether the Congress wants to ban Bajrang Dal just because the BJP banned the PFI last year.
 

In this constituency, founder of Hindutva outfit Sri Rama Sena Pramod Mutalik is taking on Minister for Energy, Kannada and Culture and incumbent three-time BJP MLA V Sunil Kumar whose routes were in the Bajrang Dal.

Speaking to reporters, Khera said, "The prime minister is insulting our faith in Lord Hanuman. He should apologise to the country as he has hurt our religious sentiments. No one has given the prime minister the right to insult Bajrang Bali."

Hitting out at the Congress in a series of tweets, VHP national spokesperson Vinod Bansal said the party which is being rejected all over the country is day dreaming of banning the Bajrang Dal.

This remark comes after the grand old party launched its poll manifesto in which it committed to take firm and decisive action against individuals and organisations such as Bajrang Dal and the Popular Front of India (PFI) that 'spread hatred' among communities on grounds of caste and religion.

"This Congress manifesto is propounded by the PFI, and prepared at the behest of the PFI sympathisers and its ecosystem," the Assam Chief Minister said.

Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramiah, state unit president DK Shivakumar and Chairman of the Manifesto Committee Dr Parameshwaraji, among other party leaders, were present.
