Bhat said it appeared that the BJP did not need people like him who "worked tirelessly", as the party had grown everywhere. He said he had worked for the party even in the hardest of times and was thankful for the opportunities that he had been given.

Out of the 189 candidates, as many as 52 new candidates have got the ticket for the first time. 32 candidates from OBC, 20 from SC and 16 from ST communities. Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai will be contesting from Shiggaon constituency, BJP's national general secretary Arun Singh announced.

Tripura Election 2023: "During the election campaign, party leaders, including PM Modi to HM Amit Shah to party national president J P Nadda, will focus on the state's development before and after 2018. Whether it's about people's welfare, connectivity, or women's empowerment, the current government has done a lot for the state's overall development," said CM Manik Shah.

The state's chief minister Dr Manik Saha will contest from the Town Bordowali seat. Party leaders Anil Baluni and Sambit Patra announced the BJP party's candidates' first list for the upcoming Tripura assembly elections at the party headquarters today. 

On Thursday (November 10) the BJP released its first list of 160 candidates for the two-phase elections to the 182-member Gujarat Assembly, fielding Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel from his constituency Ghatlodia and dropping a number of sitting MLAs.
