SM Krishna: Constant interference by Rahul Gandhi forced me to quit Congress

Former senior Congress leader SM Krishna, who recently joined hands with the BJP, hit out at Rahul Gandhi for interfering in party matters without any authority.

SM Krishna, who was loyal to the Congress for about 46 years before joining the BJP, has come out with scathing remarks against Rahul Gandhi. Krishna said that he quit the party after it became unbearable for him to deal with Rahul Gandhi's constant interference. He also went on to say that Rahul Gandhi controlled the Manmohan Singh government, but failed to control the alliance parties, leading to several scams at the time.

Krishna said that even though Rahul Gandhi was nether the party president, nor the general secretary, he would interfere in party matters without the Prime Minister's consent. He also said that Rahul Gandhi issued an order stating that those who had reached 80 years must not be allowed to hold any ministry. Upon hearing this, a disappointed SM Krishna resigned from the party.

Krishna resigned as a member of the Congress in January 2017, after being with the party for about 46 years and went on to join the BJP. In December 2017, Rahul officially took over the post of Congress president from his mother Sonia Gandhi.
