ACB denies time to B S Yeddyurappa asks to appear on Aug 24

Firmly denying "more time" sought by former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has issued a second summons to Yeddyurappa and asked him to appear on August 24. ACB had earlier issued a notice asking Yeddyurappa to appear on Aug 19 in land denotification charges. However, he did not turn up and sought 10 more days time through his lawyer. He reasoned that he needed 10 days to collect all the required documents mentioned in the notice. He had said he would present the facts after collecting required documents, reports Kannada Prabha. ACB officials have not responded to the appeal but instead issued a second letter stating that he should appear for investigation on Aug 24.

Meanwhile, former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa has submitted an objection to the High Court requesting to dismiss the second FIR filed against him in denotification of land in Shivarama Karantha Layout. ACB had filed two FIRs on Aug 10 and Aug 17 against Yeddyurappa, based on a complaint lodged by Dr D Ayyappa that during his tenure as chief minister Yeddyurappa had illegally denotified 257 acres and 19 Guntas from a total 3,546.12 acres of land acquired by the Bengaluru Development Authority to form Shivarama Karantha Layout, reports Kannada Prabha.

Yeddyurappa has applied for dismissal of the two FIRs filed against him at the High Court of Karnataka. Both the applications will come up before the single judge bench headed by Justice Aravinda Kumar for hearing.
