Sit far, far away: The closer you are to the spread, the more likely you are to get up for a refill. Sitting far away from the spread ensures that you take one or two rounds less than what you would normally take.
Lean on liquids: Have plenty of water; this will not only make you feel full, but also help break down carbohydrates. Also, having more soups and juices than desserts and entrees, will make sure you eat less fatty foods.
