Interestingly, around 70 per cent of women opined that Yogi Adityanath should return as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.

The opinion poll conducted by India News-Jan ki Baat projects the BJP to win around 34-39 seats in the 70-member state assembly followed by the Congress which expected to win 27-33 seats.

Banerjee slammed the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh administration, saying, "History will never forgive those involved for Hathras, Unnao tragedies, and bodies buried in Ganga in UP during COVID-19."

Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled the Lok Kalyan Sankalpa Patra 2022 ahead of the UP election 2022, reviewing the promises delivered by the 'double-engine' BJP government in Uttar Pradesh.

According to the records, Saurabh Srivastava will contest the election for the second time from Varanasi Cantt seat, which he inherited from his parents Harishchandra Srivastava and Jyotsana Srivastava.

The Aam Aadmi Party filed a complaint with the Election Commissioner in this situation, and following an investigation, an action was taken.

Meanwhile, Samajwadi Party leader and former district president from Azamgarh, Akhilesh Yadav will contest from Mubarakpur Assembly constituency in the upcoming Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh.

Since independence, the Mehnagar assembly seat has been won by the JNP, the Congress Party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Samajwadi Party, the CPM, and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) four times.  

Yadav said if the Samajwadi Party coalition government is formed, amount for old pension would be released, clearance of sugarcane payments would be done in 15 days by making a corpus fund, MSP for every crop would be ensured and mandis would be organised.
