Earlier in the day, Chaudhary appealed to people to come out in large numbers to cast their votes to elect a government to fulfil their aspirations.  

There is a shop in Gorakhpur named Matku & Sons running from 1994, famous for sewing clothes of political leaders. Rashid Ahmed, popularly known as Matku or Raja Bhaiya has been stitching kurtas for Central and State leaders.

The districts where the elections will be held are Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Shamli, Hapur, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Agra and Mathura.

Polling got underway in 58 seats across 11 districts of Uttar Pradesh in the first round of assembly elections on Thursday. The state will hold assembly elections in seven rounds till March 7, with the results revealed on March 10.

Yogi Adityanath said that the 'rioters who have been restrained are getting impatient, and the 'terrorists are repeatedly issuing threats.'   

In this phase, 623 candidates, including independents, are in the fray. The BJP had won 53 out of 58 seats in the 2017 Assembly elections.

However, the Prime Minister - in his early morning tweet, warned people against the deadly COVID-19 and urged them to follow all necessary protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) laid down by the officials.

The party's election manifesto, titled "Drishti Patra, 2022," has a renewed emphasis on infrastructure development, tourism, migration control, job creation, empowerment of women, farmers, horticulture, and dairy growth.

CM Yogi's tweet came before the first round of voting. The first round of voting will take place on February 10. Voting will take place in 58 seats across 11 districts in the state.
