Afghan girl, born on US military plane, named 'Reach', after aircraft's code name

According to General Tod Wolters, the chief of US European Command, the code name for the jet that took the Afghan family to safety was Reach 828, and that's how the parents decided to name their kid. As per military officials, an Afghan girl born aboard a US military flight as her family escaped Taliban rule was named 'Reach,' after the aircraft's code name.
On Saturday, the baby's mother went into labour while being transported to a US military installation in Germany. As soon as the jet touched down, military medics assisted the woman in giving birth in the airline's cargo hold. After that, the mother and infant were transported to a local hospital.

To communicate with other aircraft and control towers, each US Air Force aircraft has a code name, and the code for C-17 freight planes is generally "Reach" followed by a number.

Reach and her parents are on their way to the United States, along with other Afghan refugees, according to Wolters. Only 100 of the 7,000 individuals evacuated from Kabul and passing through US facilities in Europe since August 20 required medical attention.
