Suvendu Adhikari, who jumped to BJP from Trinamool Congress, is losing in Nandigram
Trinamool Congress takes a massive lead in Bengal poll elections, passing the 209 seat mark while BJP failed to reach 90 seats.Â
Mamata Banerjee is currently facing a tough fight from Suvendu for Nandigram. Nandigram Official election commission announcement, after 16th round of counting 102751 votes - Shubhendu and 103571 votes - Mamata.
Suvendu Adhikari was previously Banerjee's right-hand man as she campaigned for farmers' land rights and rallied people around the Trinamool.Â
Adhikari later won from the constituency, and for years, his family had a firm grip across Nandigram. Later, Adhikari's switch to the BJP led to a flood of withdrawals from the Trinamool and left her without many top aides.
Mamta, hurt by Adhikari's betrayal, determined to take the fight straight to his fortress to prove a point. Mamta gave up her constituency Bhowanipore in Kolkata.Â
In her speeches, Banerjee said she wanted to contest Nandigram "to salute the Nandigram movement" and promised she would never abandon the constituency.
