Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Derek O'Brien on Wednesday (March 24) wrote a letter to the Election Commission of India accusing the BJP of violating the model code of conduct.
Several Trinamool Congress leaders, including Madan Mitra, Kunal Ghosh, and Vivek Gupta, were summoned by the central investigation agency ahead of the polls. This time, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Derek O'Brien on Wednesday (March 24) wrote a letter to the Election Commission of India accusing the BJP of violating the model code of conduct.
The TMC claims that leaders are being "deliberately" harassed or summoned by various central agencies. The party further alleged that BJP leaders are not being summoned even though they are accused in the same case. The letter, however, did not name any BJP leader.

In a letter to Ariz Aftab, the state's chief electoral officer, Derek O'Brien claimed that the party in power at the centre (BJP) was "abusing" the central government. Derek alleged that the BJP government was doing that to influence the voters of the state before the polls and to create a 'misconception' in their minds.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Income Tax Department have been asked to take necessary steps to ensure that no 'biased' action is taken by the TMC leaders till the end of the elections.

At the same time, Trinamool alleges that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Smriti Irani, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and several other full-fledged ministers of state are abusing government power while campaigning in Bengal.Â
The Trinamool has alleged that the BJP leaders are abusing government officials and government transport. The Trinamool has also demanded the introduction of uniform rules for each political party. "We have always stood for neutral administration and free elections in the states and at the centre," Derek said in the letter.Â
