Bengaluru: Building comes crashing down as heavy rains wash away foundation

This was one of the buildings listed and identified by BBMP as a vulnerable building to be demolished. The building had four floors and eight families were staying in it.

In yet another shocking news coming from Bengaluru, a building collapsed in a colony near Shankarnag bus stand in Kamalanagar, Mahalakshmi Layout. However, no casualties were reported as all the people residing in the building and those living in surrounding areas were evacuated in time and shifted to safer locations.

A 3-storey building developed cracks around 10 pm and the foundation started to collapse late Tuesday night due to heavy rain, according to BBMP officials. Karnataka Minister K Gopalaiah, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) chief commissioner Gaurav Gupta and other officials visited the spot after being informed about the incident.

This was one of the buildings listed and identified by BBMP as a vulnerable building to be demolished. The building had four floors and eight families were staying in it.

Meanwhile, the BBMP has identified 60-70 buildings in the city that are prone to collapse due to heavy rain and this is the 5th such incident of building collapse in Bengaluru.
