Garbage dump near Bengaluru’s Varthur Lake catches fire
A massive fire engulfed a private land-turned-garbage dumping spot close to the Varthur Lake in southeastern Bengaluru on Tuesday evening
Bengaluru: A garbage dump near Varthur Lake in Bengaluru caught fire at around 7:45 pm on Tuesday. As per sources, the fire tenders couldn't reach the spot till 9 pm due to traffic.
Meanwhile, the residents tried to douse the fire but it spread to more than four acres of area.
In spite of BBMP and KSPCB officials’ visit, illegal segregation units are growing unhindered. As per sources, illegal garbage segregation units operate around the lake. And people dump large amounts of wastes next to the residential complex and even in the lake.
