This is the world's first Tesla Model Y police vehicle

The Hastings-on-Hudson police department in New York has taken delivery of a brand new Tesla Model Y which it claims could be a first in the world.

The Tesla Model Y, assigned to the Detective division, has been outfitted with lights, sirens and radio.

The car is also equipped with Tesla's long-range package and has a five-star crash rating. 

According to the US Department of Energy's fuel calculator, the department will see a fuel savings of $8,525 (Over Rs 6.27 lakh) over five years.
