Viral video: JD(S) leader drags woman by her hand in public, leaves party embarrassed
After a recent loss in Hubballi-Dharwad elections where the party failed to open its account with zero votes, JD(S) had to witness another embarrassing situation after a former corporator was caught dragging a woman by holding her hand.
The incident happened this morning at Vidyagiri Police Station limits in Dharwad.
Upon getting clues about Anumathi Attigeri's movement, JD(S) leader and former corporator Srikanth Jamnal, stopped the woman at Udayagiri area. In the video, Jamnal can be seen holding the woman's hand and dragging her in public.
The shameful incident not only put the leader's reputation at stake, but also damaged the party's image further in the north Karnataka belt. As a result, such behaviour was condemned in the Hubballi-Dharwad circle, who are now terming him as 'tukali adhyaksha' (cheap leader).
It is said that the woman had sold her scooter to Jamnal, however, she had concealed the fact about a pending loan on the vehicle. Jamnal had given this vehicle to his friend and had to face embarrassment when agents had stopped and asked for papers from the rider.
Following the viral video, a case against the JD(S) leader was registered at Vidyagiri Police station.
The incident comes at a time when the party has suffered a humiliating defeat in Belagavi and Hubballi-Dharwad municipal polls. The party had managed only 4 seats in Kalburgi elections and now is eyeing the Mayor post to offer support.
Both, BJP with 23 seats and Congress with 27 seats are lobbying for support and have reached to JD(S) top functionaries for their response.
Last year a Taluk Municipal Council's woman member from Congress accused BJP leader MLA Siddu Savadi of heckling her and the purported video was also released demanding action against Terdal MLA during local polls in November 2020.
