Karnataka: Villagers confront missionary; he says not here for conversion, but 'variation' (WATCH)

The incident comes at a time when the right-wing outfits have been alleging that a conversion mafia is operating in the state. The state government is also contemplating bringing an anti-conversion bill to apply the brake on the rising involuntary religious conversions.

A shocking video has emerged from North Karnataka's Yadagir where a Christian missionary was confronted by villagers over an alleged conversion attempt.

The shows a villager from Neelahalli confronting the Christian missionary about the purpose of his visit. The missionary responded, saying that he had not come for conversion but to bring variation in life.

The missionary also claims that he has the government's permission to carry out his work and dares the villager to lodge a complaint with the police. 

The video shows two women accompanying the missionary who is believed to be part of the team that was to reach out to villagers for sermons. Following the altercation, a complaint has been registered with the Saidapur Police.

It is alleged that the missionaries were urging villagers not to apply vermilion on the forehead and to give up wearing bangles.
