Tamil Nadu Police shot dead: Accused linked with IS, SIMI remanded to judicial custody

Thiruvananthapuram: Two suspected assailants in the gunning down case of special sub inspector of police Wilson in Kanyakumari district, Tamil Nadu last week, were remanded to judicial custody. They have been lodged at the Palayamkotti central prison. According to reports, the duo had shot dead the cop to threaten the police and state administration while retaliating the arrest of their associates.

The Tamil Nadu Police arrested the accused from Karnataka's Udupi. The accused are identified as Abdul Shameem and Thaufeeq. Police added that Abdul Shemeem, one of the arrested, has links with terrorist organisation Islamic State (IS) and banned extremist organisation Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).
