Taluk Health Officer commits suicide due to work pressure

The family members of the Taluk Health Officer said that he took the extreme step owing to pressure from higher officials.

Mysuru: Nanjangud Taluk Health Officer (THO) SR Nagendra committed suicide at his residence on August 20. The kin of the THO said that he took the extreme step due to work pressure from higher officials.
 
According to sources, the deceased's kin and doctors staged a protest near the district health office in Nazarbad, Mysuru. Medical education minister Dr K Sudhakar expressed his condolence.

Reacting to the death of Nanjangud Taluk Health Officer, Mysuru District commissioner Abhiram G Shankar said that Dr Nagendra was a very sensitive man. He added that for the past 6 months Nagendra was actively involved in COVID duty and his death came as a great loss to his fellow officers. He also said that the exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained and the truth will be found out in a few days upon further investigation.
