Shaheen Bagh fever grips Andhra Pradesh, women protesters arrested by Vijaywada Police

After Delhi's Shaheen Bagh protest, women in Andhra Pradesh's Vijaywada staged a demonstration and blocked roads. They were taken into preventive detention by Vijaywada Police.

The three-month-long Shaheen Bhag protest in Delhi has now started to spread across the nation. The Muslim women in Andhra Pradesh now have started to block roads and raise slogans against CAA and NRC. The police detained the women group for blocking the road. The police said that the women, who blocked the road and attempted a sir-in protest, did not give any prior intimation and did not have permission from the district police. Senior police officials tried their best to convince the women group to vacate the place as it was causing traffic jam and nuisance. Despite requests and warnings, the women continued to block the road and raised Azadi slogans. Sensing that the situation may turn volatile especially after the grim situation in Delhi, which as so far has witnessed 13 deaths due to clashes between anti-CAA supporters and pro-CAA supporters, the cops detained the women.
