Saving Lives: 7-day-old child with heart ailment rushed to Bengaluru from Shivamogga in zero-traffic in record


Three days after a 40-day-day old infant was rushed to Bengaluru’s Jayadeva Hospital via zero traffic from Mangaluru's Fr Muller hospital in record 4.5 hours, another baby suffering from a heart ailment was brought from Shivamogga in similar fashion.
 

A seven-day-old infant with heart related issues was rushed to Bengaluru's Jayadeva Hospital from CM BS Yediyurappa's district Shivamogga in just 3.5 hours.
 
A zero-traffic corridor was arranged from Shivamogga to Bengaluru to save the life of the 7-day-old child suffering from a heart ailment. The baby belongs to Swami and Sudha, natives of Belimallur village in Honnali taluk of Davanagere district.

According to doctors at McGann District Hospital Shivamogga, the baby suffers from ventricular septal defect (VSD) a condition more commonly referred to as ‘hole in the heart.’

The ambulance started from the hospital in the morning and by 12, the child was in Jayadeva Hospital.

Dr CN Manjunath, director, Jayadeva Hospital said, “the baby is premature and cannot withstand surgery, hence we have suggested some nourishment for few more days and treatment accordingly. Based on suggestions, the girl child was shifted to Indiranagar Gandhi Institute of Child Health.
