Rahul Gandhi, DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah pay homage to Oscar Farnandes
All India Congress Committee vice president Rahul Gandhi, KPCC president DK Shivakumar, ex-CM Siddaramaiah on Thursday reached veteran Oscar Farnandes's Bengaluru house and met family members.
Rahul Gandhi and other leaders met Oscar Farnandes's widow Blossom Fernandes, son Oshan Fernandes and daughter Oshin Fernandes and consoled the family over the death of their loved one.
The leaders spent a brief amount of time at Rest House Road residence and left the place.
Oscar Farnandes was not well for quite some time after he had a fall at his house and was admitted.
The leaders who also served as union minister had once admitted that he consumed gomutra as he was diagnosed with cancer and as a cure he took gomutra as medicine. He also recovered and had told this in Rajya Sabha once.
The leader, who hails from Karnataka's coastal belt, commands respect from all segments here.
On September 13, he died due to illnesses. After darshan in his hometown Udupi and Mangaluru KPCC office, his body was brought to KPCC head office in Bengaluru.
After the darshan, arrangements were made to lay him to rest at the Christian cemetery.
The Congress has lost four stalwarts Ahmed Patel from Gujarat,Veerbhadra Singh from Uttarakhand, Rajeev Satav from Maharashtra and now Oscar Farnandes from Karnataka. The party feels the void as these leaders were assets and loyal.
