Punjab: Hindu refugees submit memorandum to collector to implement Citizenship Act

Hindu refugees celebrated and welcomed the Citizenship Act and submitted a memorandum to the Jalandhar collector and requested the government to implement the Bill.
 

Jalandhar: In a smooth sail, after the Citizenship Bill was passed in Lok Sabha as well as Rajya Sabha, refugees in Jalandhar celebrated by beating drums, cutting cakes and distributing sweets to one and all. The refugees who have been residing in Punjab for over a decade, submitted a memorandum to the Jalandhar collector, Varinder Kumar Sharma, to implement the Citizenship Act in Punjab.

After submitting the memorandum, the refugees thanked the Central government for implementing this Bill and said that the Central government has given us the right and honour to live in the country. Also, the refugees requested the Punjab government to make it a law in Punjab so that those who come to India from Pakistan can gain citizenship in India.
