Pakistan releases 20 Indian fishermen who were arrested for entering its territorial waters

According to District Jail Malir Superintendent Aurangzaib Kango, the Indian fishermen sentenced to six-month imprisonment after they were arrested in November 2018, were released.  But, their release was delayed because of the process of the completion of their documents and nationality confirmation.

New Delhi: On Sunday (January 5), Pakistan released 20 Indian fishermen who had been arrested for entering Pakistani territorial waters.

Maritime Security Agency arrested the Indian fishermen and had been incarcerated in the District Jail, Malir. 

The Indian fishermen travelled to Lahore from the Cantonment Station and were handed over to the Indian authorities at the Wagah border.

According to reports, more than 200 Indian fishermen are still imprisoned in Pakistan.
