Lockdown curse: Radish farmers cry foul as quintal price crashes from Rs 2000 to just Rs 300

Tonnes of radish grown in Gadag, Karnataka, lie without being transported. Farmers have lost hope in getting any good price. At present, the price is Rs 300 per quintal in the market and about 4,000 quintal is what is getting wasted from 1.5 acre land.

Farmer Prakash Bingi said his 1.5 acre land has produced good yield and by now he should have sold at least 4,000 quintal. Due to lockdown and price crash, everything now seems grim.

The farmer said that in the market, the price offered earlier per quintal was Rs 2000, but now post lockdown, the price has come down to Rs 300.
