Karnataka GP polls: Polling booth wears deserted look as villagers boycott election

Villagers in Karnataka took the decision to boycott the Gram Panchayat elections after their request to remove their village from the buffer zone for National Tiger Reserve went unheard.

The Bidare village is situated in Chikkamagaluru district in Karnataka. As the first phase of the election is underway today, the villagers instead of voting, have put a banner in the school premises allotted to cast votes and appealed to voters to boycott the election.

As the villagers kept themselves busy with agricultural activity, the booth set up at the school wore a deserted look.
