Washington: Speaking on US President’s standalone visit to India, director of US Initiative at Observer Research Foundation in Washington DC, Dhruva Jaishankar, said that it's a break over past 10 years during which India and Pakistan are treated on their own merits. “There used to be a pattern where India was often hyphenated with Pakistan. President Clinton and Bush went to both places, although President Bush made a short visit to Pak. We've seen a break over past 10 years (to this), India and Pakistan are treated on their own merits,” Jaishankar said. “Focus will, of course, be on optics of President Trump's visit, particularly the major rally event in Ahmedabad, Gujarat and bilateral meetings that will take place in Delhi,” Jaishankar added.
