Hulimavu lake bund breach: Mayor assures action and compensation to victims

Following the botched-up lake rejuvenation work at Hulimavu that leftover over 250 houses inundated, mayor Gowtham Kumar Jain has assured compensation to victims and also action against the contractor responsible.

Bengaluru: Following the breach of the 140-acre Hulimavu lake that resulted in floods in Hulimavu, Arakere and BTM areas, Bengaluru mayor Gowtham Kumar Jain has said a team from BBMP will assess the damage and work out compensation to victims.

The mayor also said that both BBMP and BDA who are the joint custodian of the lake are clueless about who had been executing the work on Sunday and stated that a case has been registered. He also said if it is found that a particular person was responsible, he or she will be arrested. Meanwhile local corporator Bhagyalakshmi Murali arranged for a night’s stay for the victims at a badminton court and assured that soon their homes will be fixed as the breached bund has been repaired within no time.
