Heavy rains leave Bengaluru water-logged

Torrential downpour in Bengaluru since the past couple of days has resulted in waterlogging and uprooting of trees in many areas.

Low lying areas of Bengaluru were left water-logged after heavy spell of rains lashed the Garden City.  Due to the incessant downpour, road traffic was badly affected in Karnataka's capital.

According to the India Meteorological Department, Bengaluru has received 13.2 mm rain from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm on Friday while HAL airport and surrounding areas received 1.3mm rain while Kempegowda International Airport reported 7.7mm rain.

According to media reports, the worst affected parts of the city have been Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Vishveshwapuram, Lakkasandra, Gottigere, Nagarabavi and Kengeri.

Declaring a yellow alert in Bengaluru, the IMD said: "As per latest observation, Bengaluru City and neighbourhood is expected to receive light to moderate spells of rain with intermittent heavy spells of rainfall at a few places during the next 24 hours."

The IMD has also issued a yellow alert in Hassan, Ramanagara, Kolar, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Dakshina Kannada, Shimoga, Chikmagalur and Kodagu districts.
