Health official smuggling COVID vaccine in tiffin box caught red handed, DHO issues notice

In a shocking incident, vaccination vials being smuggled by officials through a tiffin box has come to light. The incident was reported from Hariharai taluk today after the public caught and opened the tiffin box.

The vails were allegedly hidden in hot boxes by pharmacist Laxman and health assistant Savitha. The duo failed to give any satisfactory reply and hence notices were issued by District Health Officer.

The incident comes at a time when vaccination shortage issues are being reported from across the state.

Earlier, BBMP contract Dr Pushpita along with his associate were caught redhanded by police for stealing the vaccination from BBMP hospital and vaccinating the public at their residence for Rs 1,000 per shot.

Her practicing license was cancelled and cases under various IPC sections including the sections under Disaster Management Act were slapped and jailed. However, in this case, no arrest has been made so far.
