Gold ornaments worth Rs 3.81 crore seized in Vijayawada
Over 8kgs of gold ornaments were seized and are estimated at Rs 3.81 crore in Andhra Pradesh’s Vijayawada. Two people have been held and are produced before the Income Tax department.
Vijayawada: Gold ornaments weighing over 8kgs, worth Rs 3.81 crore were seized from two persons in Vijayawada.
One of them is from Mumbai and the other is from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. The police asked them to produce bills, but when they were unable to do so, the duo admitted that the gold had been procured illegally.
The two accused are believed to be illegally transporting gold for many years and have now been detained.
The accused have been handed over to the income tax department and investigation is underway.
