Criticising govt for opening liquor shops, women pelted stones in Karnataka
Terming the government spineless and bowing down to liquor lobby, women in Karnataka’s Haveri took out a rally and pelted stones demanding the government to shut the liquor shops
Women in Shiggavi in Haveri District, Karnataka, which falls under the purview of state home minister Basavaraj Bommai, have taught a lesson to the government for opening liquor stores during lockdown. They pelted stones at liquor shops.
The women were upset as many are suffering without food and groceries and their future is at stake with positive cases increasing day by day.
The group holds the view that, if liquor shops are open, harassment will increase. They also fear that those visiting these shops to buy liquor may come back infected.
Despite police presence, the women group did not care and began pelting stones.
Due to fear of loss and damage, one MSIL and two retail shops were forced shut.
