The Covid-19 outbreak at the Border Security Force camp at Karahalli on the outskirts of Bengaluru has assumed worrying proportions with the number of positive infections reaching 122.

At least 22 new cases have been reported from the camp. Some of the soldiers have been admitted to the Devanahalli Taluk Hospital while others are being treated at the Yelahanka private hospital.

The health authorities have decided to conduct another round of RTPCR tests among 800 soldiers at the camp and those who have come in primary contact with the infected jawans have been put under quarantine.

On September 15, 150 jawans from Shillong in Meghalaya had arrived for physical and mental fitness at the Karahalli camp and as per protocol, those who arrived were subjected to the Covid-19 test.

Around 34 soldiers were tested Covid-positive and 90 plus personnel were put under quarantine after coming in contact with them. Two days later, 49 more tested positive.

As more cases have now been reported from the BSF camp, sanitization has been intensified in the entire campus.
