Coronavirus alert: No trains on South Western Railway division limits, 2.5 lakh commuters hit

260 trains under South Western Railway Division will close operations to curb the spread of coronavirus. 2.5 lakh passengers will be hit, but those who have to cancel the trip can now claim refund within a period of three months. 
 

Bengaluru: Amidst the coronavirus spread with 415 positive cases in India, the South Western Railway that sees around 2.5 lakh passengers daily is totally shut. With this, lakhs of passengers will remain inconvenienced. 

Many passengers are worried their refund amount now that they may have to cancel their trip. The railway department has said that people no longer have to claim their refund amount within three days says. The time period has been extended to up to three months now. 

Division railway manager, South Western Railway, Ashok Kumar Verma, has said that in his limits, about 260 trains used to ply. But now, they will close operation and only goods train will be allowed to function. This is done to curb the spread of coronavirus.
