Congress reaches Vidhana Soudha in bullock cart as sign of protest against fuel price rise

To mark the first day in the state assembly with protest, Congress leaders including ex-CM Siddaramaiah and KPCC president DK Shivakumar launched 'Bullock cart chalo' protest against BJP.

The leaders started their rally from Mysuru Bank to Vidhana Soudha. As the leaders reached Vidhana Soudha West Gate, police stopped them and a war of words was exchanged between Siddaramaiah and the police.

Later only one cart was allowed in which Lingayat leader MB Patil, SR Patil, MLA Ramalinga Reddy, Dr G Parameshwara, Dr Ajay Singh hopped and reached up to Gandhi Statue.

Siddaramaiah said the Central government under PM Modi is sucking the common man's blood. He also said that PM Modi only lies. When Congress was in power the barrel of petrol was 120 USD and now it is below 70 USD and still, the rates are high. He also said that in the last 7 years Rs 24 lakh crores profit has been achieved.

The Congress leaders said this is only a token protest and in coming days the agitation against BJP's policies will be intensified to shame the party and expose its double standards.

MLAs falls from cart:

As more MLAs climbed the cart, after losing balance a few of them fell on the ground.

One of the MLAs, Venkataramaiah fell on the ground. The MLA then was helped to stand on his feet and he is safe.

Former CM Yediyurappa reacts:

Former CM BS Yediyurappa reacting to the Congress protest said that he is not against any protest as long as it is not causing trouble to people.

He said the BJP will make an honest attempt to make Siddaramaiah and Congress sit in opposition next time as well.
