Bus strike: Telangana Jana Samiti president Kodandaram arrested

Telangana Road Transport Corporation strike turned tense after police detained Telangana Jana Samiti president-professor M Kodandaram

The 'state-wide' bandh called by the RTC employees and joint action committee (JAC) of various unions supported by all major opposition parties turned tense after police detained Telangana Jana Samiti president professor M Kodandaram and TDP leaders L Ramana and Chandrashekhar Reddy at Jubilee Bus Stand (JBS). The agitated protesters have also called chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao a dictator.

Meanwhile, a minor clash erupted between the police and a group of Road Transport Corporation (RTC) workers in Warangal district's Parakala town as protesters continued their 'state-wide' strike. However, the police prevented them from halting the buses, which led to a minor clash between the two. The police have also detained several agitating leaders. In Gadwal, Road Transport Corporation (RTC) buses are being run with the police protection.

To avoid any untoward incidents, student union leaders are being taken into preventive detention.
