Bengaluru: Tech team introduces AI solution to monitor social distancing, detect mass gathering

Deevia Software India Private Limited's new invention is a solution to ensure social distancing not just on streets but even at workplaces, manufacturing industries and even in crowded places like malls and supermarkets.

Bengaluru: Deevia Software India Private limited has developed an Artificial Intelligence (AI) - enabled Social Distancing Monitoring (SDM) application that can detect if people are keeping a safe distance from each other by analysing real time video streams from CCTV cameras. The company is also pleased to offer the solution to be used free of cost for the government and other institutions fighting against this pandemic. The company says, the system, if integrated to the CCTV network of Bengaluru, can help police and authorities in automatic identification of violation in maintaining social distance. This could be used both as a deterrent to violators by raising targeted alarm messages in regional languages and for further punitive action.

As violators are identified, the signals are sent to the smart speakers (Audio module connected to public announcement speakers) through GSM/WiFi. Based on the signals, NLP (Natural Language Processing) based targeted audio messages are played out in regional languages. This application can be integrated into the security camera systems to monitor the environment on streets. The application detects the persons in the live footage and calculates the distance between the people from top view.
