Anti-child abuse rally in Chennai sees hundreds take to the streets

Hundreds of people took to streets in a rally against child abuse in Chennai on February 23.

Chennai: Hundreds of people took to the streets to rally against child abuse in Chennai on February 23. The rally was led by Congress leader and social activist Apsara Reddy. Hundreds of women and children participated in the rally carrying placards against child abuse. The rally also saw the presence of H Jayalakshmi, deputy commissioner for Crimes against Women and Children wing. Speaking at the rally, Jayalakshmi said, "We have gathered today for the rally against child abuse both online and offline. Child abuse goes beyond sexual abuse, it may be emotional, mental, physical or sexual. It encompasses much wider gamut of actions."
