Another dump yard in Bengaluru turns into learning and recreation centre with Rs 2 crore budget

A place that scared the public, especially women in and around Domlur and Indiranagar area, has now been turned into a theme-based park. With a budget of Rs 2 crore, the land now has fruit-themed benches, life-size cartoon figures, avenue trees and an open auditorium for the public.

The filthy area under the flyover and junction connecting Domlur and Indiranagar is now a place for recreation activity. This is due to the commitment of an elected representative who ensured the dump yard and den of drug addicts turns into a beautiful theme-based park

Corporator Lakshminarayana says, he was worried regarding the safety of women as this piece of land posed a threat. He placed this demand before BBMP commissioner and later with a grant of Rs 2 crore, he turned this place into a park.

"Initially we planted few avenue trees and the landscape was designed. In the next phase, the theme-based benches like fruit and vegetables and figures from the famous cartoon show Chhota Beem was used. The parents can bring their children here as this place will influence their thinking," said Lakshminarayana.

To ensure the place remains safe and under strict vigilance, the corporator has ensured police patrolling, installation of CCTVs and a security guard.
