Ahead of its full-time bus priority lane operation, BMTC launches creative videos

BMTC with a fleet of over 6000 buses, that is often criticised for holding up traffic, launched creative videos on social media about its much-hyped bus priority lane. The videos promise freedom from traffic, timely and quality service

Youngsters getting preferential treatment at a hotel, and an elderly couple getting time to bond with family and few thought-provoking concepts in videos that are making rounds on social media. However, this is not corporate video, but an attempt to promote the use of public transport by the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC).

According to BMTC managing director C Shikha, the idea was to appeal to the public, to participate in making this bus priority lane a successful one. The idea was conceptualised by BMTC and was executed by a newly hired social media and tech team. The videos have already created a buzz on social media.

The BMTC hopes that people cooperate and take up public transportation and reduce traffic on the outer ring road.

The BMTC has earlier announced the priority lane between Tin Factory and Central Silk Board covering 17.2km from December end. No other vehicles are permitted on this dedicated lane and measures have been taken to ensure the lane is not encroached by other private vehicles.
