Volunteers reach Bengaluru slums to raise awareness on menstruation, distribute sanitary pads

As many young women of the poor families are stuck due to lockdown, the concern would be to practice safe menstruation. To give hope to some of these women, volunteers are reaching out to them and distributing sanitary pads.

As the lockdown is in place since last 25 days, the big concern among young women from the labour class and those residing in slums is not just food, but to practice safe menstruation.

Forget getting a meal per day, their worry is about getting money to buy sanitary pads during this period.

To give them comfort, volunteers from Karnataka Civil Defense force and Hands for Society have joined hands and are distributing sanitary pads. The women were told not to use clothes as this may cause infection and asked them to contact the volunteers for help during such time.
