Post lockdown relaxations, monkey attacks on humans on the rise in Bengaluru
The habit of feeding monkeys for two months has now resulted in the animals turning violent after their feeding has been discontinued. Post the relaxation of lockdown restrictions, more people are back to their regular routine. Now, the lack of being provided for by humans have made these animals ferocious and they have started to attack humans.
Apartment residents in Bengaluru who took pride in feeding monkeys during lockdown, now complain of attacks from these animals.
According to a BBMP wildlife warden, the monkeys that were starving and suffered due to thirst, were cared for and people made attempts to domesticate them. For the last few days people are returning to their normal lives and have discontinued feeding these animals, who have turned violent.
In a few cases, when being chased away, these animals suffer falls, resulting in injuries.
The warden says, people should avoid feeding wild animals, given their survival instinct.
