Bakrid: Livestock sales banned in Bengaluru; head to Hoskote, Kolar

With a rise in COVID-19 positive cases, the BBMP will not allow any gathering of livestock inside Bengaluru. However, for people to buy and offer animal sacrifice during the Bakrid festival, they can either go to Kolar or Hoskote for purchase. Keeping last year's animal waste load of about 90 tonnes, the palike will stick to last year's plan and pick the waste from designated spots and dispose of it on city’s outskirts

Bengaluru: Hoping that this year’s animal waste will come down due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic when compared to last year’s 90 tonnes, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will continue with its last year’s designated animal waste pickup points. According to BBMP’s joint commissioner for solid waste management, the waste this time will be very less due to the pandemic. Besides this, there are water supply issues in many areas. Keeping the safety of the public in mind, gathering of livestock will not be allowed in Bengaluru this time. The arrangement for sale of livestock is made in places like Kolar, Hoskote on the city's outskirts.
