200-bed hospital inaugurated to lessen COVID burden on Bowring and other hospitals in Bengaluru

The BBMP that initiated the construction of a corporation hospital on Broadway Road in Shivajinagar a few years ago was able to complete it and throw it open to the public at the time of the pandemic. The 200-bed capacity hospital was constructed at a cost of Rs 24.68 crore and Infosys foundation supported with Rs 11 crore for equipment.

During the times of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases and population in Shivajinagar, Shanthinagar and Pulakeshinagar and surroundings finding it difficult to find treatment and beds to treat emergency COVID cases, the BBMP has made a 200-bed hospital ready for use.

 

The hospital was inaugurated by CM BS Yediyurappa in the presence of Bengaluru mayor Gautham Kumar Jain and Shivajinagar MLA Rizwan Arshad.

 

The hospital originally was designed as a specialty heart care centre but due to the pandemic, the facility will be used to treat COVID-19 patients until the situation normalises.
