Thirteen protesters were killed in the firing at Thoothukudi. The protestors were agitating against the Sterlite plant whose poisonous fumes and toxic waste has all but destroyed the town. Instead of helping the victims' families, political parties in Tamil Nadu are busy playing the blame game or trying to further their own cause of strengthening their foothold in the State's politics.
