The BJP has formed a core committee despite infighting in the party. However, it has not included close aides of the party’s Karnataka president Yeddyurappa - Shobha Karandlaje and Ravikumar.
The national president of the BJP Amit Shah has rejected the 22-member list proposed by Yeddyurappa and has instead formed a core committee of 12 members of his choice, dealing a blow to the latter.
Meanwhile, sources say that Amit Shah has directed Yeddyurappa to keep Shobha Karandlaje away from the committee and to ask her to act 'within limits'.
The core committee includes Yeddyurappa, Ananth Kumar, Sadananda Gowda, Eshwarappa, Jagadish Shettar, Prahlad Joshi and Nalin Kumar will continue the committee.
State BJP principle secretary CT Ravi, Aravind Limbavali, CM Udasi and Yeddyurappa's opponent Govinda Karajola have also found a place in the committee.
Leaders Arun Kumar, Santhosh G and Muralidhar Rao, will be the permanent invitees for the core committee meetings.
Currently, except for Aravind Limbavali and Udasi, the others do not support Yeddyurappa’s views and decisions. So, he is not in a position to force his beliefs on the core committee. Instead, he will have to take everyone into his confidence, as he clearly lacks a majority.
According to BJP sources, local RSS leaders Mukund and Mangesh Bende were not happy with Shobha and Ravi Kumar’s aggressive demands.
In addition, Yeddyurappa had not included the names of Prahlad Joshi, Nalin Kumar Kateel and Santhosh G. However Shah added these names to the core committee, leaving out BSY’s loyalists.
