Principal removed for passing lewd comments on college girls

 A week after celebrity cookery show host Lakshmi Nair, who was removed as the principal of Kerala Law Academy, following a students' agitation triggered by her unruly treatment, another college principal was removed after the student's protested his alleged comments with sexual connotations. 

 

The management decided to remove U Muhammed Salim, Principal-in-charge of Mother College at Peruvallur in Thrissur after students started protest demanding his ouster. Girl students alleged that Salim used to harass them and pass lewd comments that amounted to sexual harassment. He used to summon girls to his room and make suggestive comments, the students said.

The students also complained that the college with just 4,00 students has over 100 surveillance cameras. The CCTV cameras are also fitted inside green rooms too. The college also impose fine of Rs.5000 for using mobile phone in the campus. When the students protested, the sum was reduced to Rs.1,000.

Even though the college authorities denied the allegations on Friday morning, they were forced to take action against Salim after the students called for an indefinite strike. The local police also registered a case against the Principal-in-charge. The management also agreed to remove cameras and abolish fine for mobile phone use.
