Central Intelligence agencies probe leads on Kerala's ISIS connection

Central intelligence agencies probe leads on suspected ISIS recruits in Kerala

Central Intelligence Agencies have arrived in Kasargod to probe into the missing case of 19 persons from the district after reports that they might have joined Islamic State (ISIS) surfaced.

Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), Intelligence Bureau (IB) and National Investigation Agency (NIA) sleuths flew down to the district to collect information about the missing persons. The agencies have also collected passport and details of communications made by these persons to their relatives.

The intelligence sleuths directly approached the relatives of some missing persons while others were summoned in secret. As most relatives were unaware of their passport details, intelligence agents collected their birth dates and other relevant information from them.

It has been revealed that all missing persons had obtained passports after submitting original details of identity.

The messages send by the missing persons to their relatives were also handed over to officers. It was based on these messages that the relatives began suspecting an ISIS link.

A voice message sent by Dr Ijas Ahmed, who is suspected ISIS recruiter, was also handed over to the officers.

Meanwhile, the state police under the leadership of Kasargod SP Thomson have started a probe into the matter. The police have requested the relatives of missing persons to file a complaint at the earliest.
